FAQ
Answers for teams deciding whether this workflow fits their inbox.
AttachDock helps teams that live in Gmail find attachments, reveal source context, save copies to Drive, and create supported email archives without changing the original Gmail messages.
What is AttachDock?
AttachDock is a Gmail extension that helps you find attachments buried in threads, filter inline clutter, save attachment copies to Drive, create ZIP exports, and generate supported email archives with source records.
Can AttachDock archive an entire Gmail label or search?
Yes. AttachDock can build a Drive archive from Gmail labels and searches it can read. The archive can include message pages, attachments, headers, raw .eml source files when available, and an index for review. Very large jobs depend on Gmail availability, account permissions, and plan limits.
Does AttachDock save only attachments, or the emails too?
Both workflows exist. You can save selected attachment copies to Drive, export attachment ZIPs, or create full email archives that include email content, headers, and attachment files when Gmail provides the needed data. Drive archives can be saved as organized folders, ZIP files, or both.
Does AttachDock change my Gmail messages?
No. AttachDock saves copies of attachments and generated archives. Gmail attachments stay attached to the original message, and AttachDock does not delete email or modify the original message.
What is inside a full email archive?
A full archive can include an index, message pages, attachments, full headers, header detail files, and raw .eml source files when available.
Can I use this for legal, compliance, or due-diligence archives?
AttachDock can help create structured email and attachment archives, but you remain responsible for legal, regulatory, retention, chain-of-custody, and professional obligations. AttachDock does not claim eDiscovery certification or forensic admissibility.
Does it work with shared drives?
Yes, on Business and higher plans. AttachDock's folder picker can browse Shared drives and other Drive locations where your Google account has permission. Shared-drive roots can be selected as save destinations when Drive allows it, and folder creation is supported where your permissions allow.
Can AttachDock save from Gmail's attachment controls?
Yes. When Gmail exposes attachment controls, AttachDock can add its own Save to Drive pill and attachment-chip logo beside Gmail's native controls. Those can start from one attachment or one email, then broaden to the entire thread without hiding or replacing Gmail's buttons.
Can I save attachments from multiple Gmail threads?
Yes. Pro and higher plans can review files from selected Gmail threads in list view or search results. Business adds bulk Save to Drive, cross-thread ZIPs, Gmail draft support, and fuller archives for selected conversations, labels, and searches AttachDock can read.
Can I attach files back into Gmail?
Yes, Business and higher plans support attaching selected files into a focused Gmail compose or reply draft. Dragging reviewed files into Gmail compose is also supported where Gmail's compose surface allows it.
What is the difference between Pro and Business?
Pro is best when you usually work in one conversation: save several files, make a ZIP, keep that conversation as an archive, or review files from a few conversations at once. Business is for bigger jobs: save or ZIP files across conversations, build complete archives, add files to Gmail drafts, use Shared Drives, and keep several favorite folders handy.
Will my preferences and saved destinations follow me to another computer?
Account preferences and saved destinations are tied to your authenticated Google account. Install AttachDock on another computer, sign into Gmail with the same Google account, reconnect AttachDock, and your saved destinations and core settings come with you. Some browser-local state, cached data, active archive jobs, and temporary session details stay on the device where they were created.
Why is Business the recommended plan?
Business is the plan for professionals who handle client, transaction, case, project, or operations documents in Gmail every week. It turns AttachDock from a convenient review and filing tool into a full Gmail attachment workflow.
What is included in Team?
Team includes Business features plus central billing, included seats, seat/member controls, owner/admin management, team setup guidance, and priority support.
Is Enterprise required for teams?
No. Most small teams are best served by the self-serve Team plan. Enterprise starts to make more sense when a Team account is heading past about 20 seats, or when procurement, security review, managed onboarding, custom terms, or advanced admin requirements matter.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. Free lets you review Gmail thread attachments, hide inline clutter, preview and download files, and save one file at a time to Drive.
Is there a trial?
Yes. Eligible Pro, Business, and Team plans include a 14-day trial. Checkout starts with Google sign-in so your plan is tied to the right Gmail account. Some promotional offers can start without a card, and you can add payment later without losing the remaining promo time.
Do you support Outlook?
Not currently. AttachDock is built for Gmail and Google Drive.
Do you support Safari?
Yes. AttachDock is available for Safari for Mac from the Mac App Store, and for Chrome, Edge, Opera, and other Chromium-based desktop browsers from the Chrome Web Store.
Does AttachDock read my emails?
AttachDock uses Gmail message, header, attachment, and thread data only as needed to provide the visible Gmail workflows you request, such as attachment review, source-message reveal, Save to Drive, ZIP export, and full email archive generation. In the ordinary workflow, Gmail message bodies and attachment contents are not stored on AttachDock servers. We store only the account, billing, support, and preference records needed to run AttachDock, and we do not sell Google user data or use it for advertising.
How do I manage billing?
Use the AttachDock billing portal. Billing owners sign in with Google, then can review invoices and payment details for card-billed accounts, change supported plans and seats, add payment during a no-card trial, or send a billing-support request when an account has custom terms.
Do I need to leave Gmail to use it?
No. The core workflow starts inside Gmail, either from an open conversation or from checked visible rows in the list view.
